This coal undergoes high-temperature pyrolysis in coking ovens, simultaneously producing coke and tar products. Due to its high combustible content, coke oven gas is classified as a medium-calorific gas and is a complex mixture.
Calorific Value: The calorific value ranges from 17 MJ/Nm³ to 19 MJ/Nm³ (4063 kcal/Nm³ to 4541 kcal/Nm³), with a lower heating value of 18250 kJ/Nm³. It is a medium-calorific gas with a high combustible component (approximately 90%).
Composition: Its primary components are hydrogen (55%-60%) and methane (23%-27%). with minor amounts of carbon monoxide (5%-8%), unsaturated hydrocarbons C2 and above (2%-4%), carbon dioxide (1.5%-3%), oxygen (0.3%-0.8%), and nitrogen (3%-7%). Among these, hydrogen, methane, carbon monoxide, and unsaturated hydrocarbons with carbon atoms greater than C2 constitute the combustible components, while carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and oxygen are non-combustible components.
