A biogas generator set is a device that generates electricity by compressing and igniting the purified biogas produced by biomass fermentation in the cylinder of a gas internal combustion engine. Biogas is a combustible gas produced by the fermentation of organic matter such as human and animal manure, crop straw, etc. under suitable temperature and humidity conditions in isolated air (reducing conditions). The main component of biogas is methane, which is an ideal gas fuel. It is colorless and odorless, and when mixed with an appropriate amount of air, it burns immediately. The maximum heat generation per cubic meter of pure methane is 34000 joules, while the heat generation per cubic meter of biogas is approximately 20800-23600 joules. After complete combustion of 1 cubic meter of biogas, it can generate heat equivalent to 0.7 kilograms of smokeless coal. Seal the anaerobic tank, collect biogas, and then equip it with a biogas generator to generate electricity using this combustible gas, which is biogas power generation.

Biogas is a mixture of gases, primarily composed of methane (CH₄) and carbon dioxide (CO₂). Methane accounts for 45% to 70%, carbon dioxide for 30% to 40%, with small amounts of hydrogen, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, oxygen, and nitrogen. Due to its combustible methane content, biogas can serve as fuel. Biogas is a product of bacterial decomposition of organic matter under anaerobic conditions. Urban organic waste, sewage sludge from treatment plants, rural livestock and human manure, crop straw, and similar materials can all serve as feedstock for biogas production.

2. Biogas Requirements for the Unit (Within 1m of the Gas Inlet Valve)

• Biogas temperature ≤40°C;

• Biogas pressure: 3–20 kPa, pressure variation rate ≤1 kPa/min;
• H₂S ≤ 200 mg/Nm³;
• NH₃ ≤ 20 mg/Nm³;
• CH₄ content in biogas ≥ 40%, variation rate ≤2%/min

Suitable gas sources: Biogas produced from various organic materials including landfill gas, livestock manure, and industrial organic waste.
