Low-Concentration Methane Power Generation Technology
Coal mine methane is categorized into high-concentration and low-concentration methane. High-concentration methane refers to methane (methane) with a concentration exceeding 25%, while low-concentration methane denotes methane with a concentration below 25%. Over 60% of coal mine gas is low-concentration gas containing less than 25% methane. According to coal mine safety regulations, gas concentrations below 25% cannot be stored or transported.
Low-concentration gas power generation must address two challenges: First, each coal mine’s conditions vary significantly and constantly change, making it difficult for traditional power generation units to adapt to diverse scenarios. Second, ensuring the safe transportation of low-concentration gas poses a critical issue.

Requirements for Gas Supply to the Unit:
Within 1 meter of the gas inlet valve of the gas-fired unit:
1. Gas temperature ≤40°C;
2. Gas pressure 3–20 kPa, pressure change rate ≤1 kPa/min;
3. H₂S ≤ 200 mg/Nm³;
4. For CH₄ volume content: High-concentration gas generators require methane content ≥25%; low-concentration gas generators require methane content between 12%–25% for normal startup.
5. Water content in gas ≤40g/Nm³
6. Particle size of impurities ≤μm, impurity content ≤30mg/Nm³.
If combustible gases contain high levels of sulfur and ammonia, they not only severely corrode spark plug electrodes but also increase acid value in engine oil, corroding internal components. These gases also readily form deposits, accelerating engine wear and corrosion.
